Literally Anyone Can Use This Tip to Make Disney World's Most Expensive Hotel Rooms Much Cheaper

That’s why we always share the latest deals with you, whether those be Disney World vacation deals or deals on flights to Orlando. Well, we’re going to share a tip with you that’s not a limited-time deal, but something you can do for ANY Disney World trip, and it could save you a LOT of money on Disney World deluxe hotels.

You’ve probably heard of the Disney Vacation Club, or DVC. It’s a timeshare program that Disney World guests can buy into by purchasing a set number of “vacation points.” Those points are allocated yearly until your DVC contract ends. DVC members use those points to book rooms at Disney hotels.

Well, a DVC membership is NOT cheap, but there’s a way for ANYONE to use DVC points to book rooms at Disney World? How? By renting DVC points from existing DVC members. Okay, so that may sound a little risky (especially if you think you have to rent directly from DVC members), but there is a great reputable third party service that we can recommend that can handle it all for you — David’s Vacation Club Rentals.

By renting DVC points, you can stay in a nice DVC room at a Disney World deluxe hotel for a LOT less money than the rack rate. You’ll also get an actual DVC room, which is usually spacious with more amenities. These rooms often include a kitchenette area. It’s a win-win, right?

So how does it work? Well, you can go here on David’s Vacation Club Rentals website and click on “Cost Calculator” under “DVC Guests.” You can choose your dates of travel and see the total cost of how much that room would cost you by renting points. For example, you could stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge for four nights in early December in a studio room for $672.

In comparison, that same room would cost you over $500 PER NIGHT if you booked through the Disney World website. So you see the appeal, right?

Once you’ve chosen your room, you’ll click on “Reserve Your Stay” and David’s will take care of it all for you. You will be asked for secondary choices in case the resort you want isn’t available. If nothing on your request is available, you won’t be charged. If it is, your credit card will be charged for the full length of your stay.

Then you’ll receive a confirmation number to plug into My Disney Experience so you can connect it to your Disney account, which means you can use your MagicBands as your room key, as well as use online check-in, just like you would if you’d booked through Disney.

So what’s the catch? Well, you do have to pay for the entire stay up front, and you’ll need to purchase your Disney World tickets separately. You’ll also need to book as early as possible because many of these resorts sell out fast — you can book up to 11 months in advance of your trip. Also, your booking is non-refundable, meaning if you have to cancel or change your trip, you won’t get your money back. However, we recommend using a credit card with travel protection or buying trip insurance to cover that cost, just in case.

Sometimes, David’s will also offer even BETTER rates for resorts. You’ll want to subscribe to the company’s newsletter to stay on top of those. You can also often get reduced rates through Dedicated Reservations — you’ll find this page on the David’s website that lists points that are available for specific resorts for specific dates.
