2022 has been a BIG year for Disney World!
We’ve seen new restaurants, new rides, and updates at the resorts. But even though we’ve only got a few weeks of the year left, Disney isn’t done yet! There are still some big projects on the way (as well as some that we’re watching for next year) and today we’re sharing all the construction updates from the past few days.
Magic Kingdom
Like usual, we’ve got to start out with the TRON coaster! This ride is set to open in the spring, and we’ve been seeing lots of progress recently, and even more ride testing. Crews were onsite this week continuing their work on the landscaping around the building.
And underneath the ride building, the Walt Disney World Railroad tracks have been installed! They’re starting to connect the pieces from the Fantasyland Station through Tomorrowland, so maybe we’ll get an opening date for the train soon.
Next to the TRON coaster, Tomorrowland Light & Power Company is still closed while crews work on the pathway next to the building. This path will lead back to the TRON coaster.
We saw several workers walking up and down this pathway during our ride on the PeopleMover. We’re excited to see what it looks like when it’s complete!
EPCOT
Let’s move over to EPCOT, where we’ve got some big projects in the front of the park! World Celebration and part of World Nature are currently under construction, adding in CommuniCore Plaza and Hall, Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana, and some gardens and theming.
Not much has changed since last week, when we saw these white structures get added to the area for the Moana attraction. What do you think they’ll be?
On the other side of the park, we spotted more work being done on the PLAY! Pavilion. It’s hard to tell if anything is changing, since this will be an indoor attraction.
We hope Disney reveals some more details about this project soon. It has been a WHILE since they talked about it!
Hollywood Studios
At Hollywood Studios, the big project is Roundup Rodeo BBQ. The restaurant is supposed to open before the end of this year, although no opening date has been announced yet. From what we can see on the outside, there’s a lot of scaffolding around the entrance.
But this week, we got an aerial glimpse at the construction thanks to @bioreconstruct on Twitter! Check out what it looks like behind the walls. We’ve still got some landscaping left, but the walkway is complete.
We can’t wait to check out the final product…hopefully very soon!
Animal Kingdom
Next, we’re stopping at Animal Kingdom, where work continues on the fountain in front of DINOSAUR. The Iguanadon remains blocked by rolling hedges, and Disney hasn’t shared any details about this project.
We’ll keep watch on this area and see if anything big changes soon.
Disney World Hotels
And finally, let’s stop by Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, where things are moving along with construction for the new DVC building. More construction vehicles arrived on site this week, so we might be seeing some big changes soon.
Those are all the big changes that happened this week — stay tuned for more news from Disney World as we watch these projects. 2023 is going to be a big year with lots of new additions, and we can’t wait!
