2022 is a BIG year for Disney World!

We’re in the middle of the 50th Anniversary celebrations at Disney World, more entertainment options are returning fully, and we’re getting all kinds of new offerings soon. On top of that, there are several ongoing construction projects, and today we’re sharing all the construction updates from this past week!
Magic Kingdom
Like always, we’re starting this update out at Magic Kingdom, where we noticed some changes with the construction on Center Street. The seating area is still blocked off and the pavement from the walkway in the middle has been mostly removed at this point.

In Tomorrowland, big changes are happening at the TRON coaster! This week we spotted crews working on both the big walkway up to the attraction, as well as the tunnel that the Walt Disney World Railroad will use. There were crews working throughout the day multiple days this week.

And next door at Tomorrowland Light & Power Co., the side of the store is still blocked off as work continues on the building and the sidewalk next to it. We didn’t notice any major changes here in the past few days, but we’ll keep you updated.

We can’t wait until we get the chance to FINALLY ride the TRON coaster in Magic Kingdom — we’ve been watching this construction for literal years!

EPCOT
To get a bird’s-eye view of construction in EPCOT, we took a ride on the monorail. Next to the guest relations building, there’s a large blocked-off area, and it looks like they’re laying out new pavement.

In the center of the park, work continues on Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana as well as the new gardens, CommuniCore Hall, and CommuniCore Plaza. We noticed some newer structures out in the construction zone this week.

Heading over to World Showcase, Disney has been in the process of replacing the pavement in the Germany Pavilion. It hasn’t really affected the flow of traffic, but this week, part of the pavilion was blocked by shrubbery walls. We’ll keep checking for updates.

So many projects have already been completed in EPCOT, but there’s still so much left to go before all the construction walls come down!

Hollywood Studios
In Hollywood Studios, guests are still taking a side exit when leaving Toy Story Mania. You’ll be directed outdoors and around a series of construction walls — just think of it like a fun maze! ?

We’re definitely excited about the changes coming to Toy Story Land as a whole, including the new gift shop and restaurant!

Animal Kingdom
This week in Animal Kingdom there were some temporary barriers put up on the walkway in the Asia section of the park. It looks like they’re in the process of replacing the pavement here as well.

It must be the season of updating the walkways in Disney World, because we’ve seen this happen in multiple parks recently!

Disney Hotels
And finally, let’s stop at the Disney hotels to see what’s going on. Some major demolition happened at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort in the past few days, as the former Spirit of Aloha show building was taken down to make way for the new DVC tower that’s coming here.

Part of the BoardWalk was blocked off this week for refurbishment, namely the area in front of Flying Fish. According to the Disney World website, the restaurant is still open at this time, you’ll just have to walk around the rolling bushes to get there!

And next door at the Beach Club Resort, we noticed this new sign out this week, warning guests of ongoing construction.

Sure enough, part of the walkway was blocked by construction walls and getting a little touch-up. This doesn’t really affect the flow of traffic at the moment.

Those are all the construction updates that we noticed this week! There are other ongoing projects to take note of as well, like the new Roundup Rodeo BBQ restaurant under construction in Toy Story Land and the new DVC rooms coming to the Grand Floridian.

There are lots of exciting changes happening at Disney World this year, and we can’t wait to watch them all unfold! Stay tuned to AllEars for more.
