One of the most nostalgic films of the 1980s is about to head to the small screen.

We’re talking about Goonies, that beloved film about a group of misfit kids who stumble upon a treasure map that takes them on the adventure of a lifetime. And now that movie is about to become a series on Disney+, according to Variety.
And in true “never say die” fashion, this is a TV series we weren’t sure would ever get made. It was initially adapted by writer Sarah Watson as a pilot for Fox and told the story about a teacher who helps her students recreate the original movie. But Fox passed on it.

However, the series, which is now being called Our Time, is being redeveloped for Disney+. Executive producers include Watson, Gail Berman, and Hend Baghdady from The Jackal Group, Lauren Shuler Donner and the late Richard Donner, and Amblin TV’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on the progress of the series and keep you updated, so stay tuned!
