Back in July, Scarlett Johansson filed a lawsuit against Disney for breach of contract in regards to the release of Marvel’s Black Widow both in theaters and on Disney+ (for an additional cost) on the same day.

Since then, the suit has been settled after being forced into private arbitration. And, now Johansson has commented on why she felt her lawsuit was necessary and how it has impacted the industry.
At the 35th annual American Cinematheque tribute in her honor, Johansson stopped to speak with several media outlets regarding the lawsuit. She told The Hollywood Reporter that it was a “very surreal time” for her and that she feels “mostly very fortunate that nobody will have to go through what I went through and that it’s made…a positive impact in the industry and hopefully for artists and creatives lives and livelihood.”

She also stopped to speak with The Associated Press and shared that she thinks “it’s important in general to know your own worth and stand up for yourself.” And, while she may have been worried about not receiving another role by speaking out in the past, she is thankful that this has seemingly changed.

Speaking of Johansson’s future in the industry, Disney has already confirmed that she is still set to star in the upcoming movie, Tower of Terror, and Marvel’s Kevin Feige has shared that they are working with her on a new top-secret Marvel project where she will serve as a producer.

Of course, we’ll continue to keep an eye out for updates on both upcoming projects, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for the latest!
