Johansson had originally filed the lawsuit because the film Black Widow was simultaneously released in theaters and Disney+ instead of exclusively in theaters. Disney argued that due to COVID-19 and the state of theaters, they were justified to release the film on Disney+ and in theaters simultaneously.
