Which Magic Kingdom Dessert Parties Are Worth the Cost?

You might have heard that there’s a brand new fireworks show in Magic Kingdom called Disney Enchantment.

When the show debuted on October 1st of this year, four Magic Kingdom dessert parties started up as well. These are special events that guests can buy tickets for, and they include snacks and viewing areas for the fireworks show.

But which of the four new parties are really worth the cost? Let’s break it down.

Overview of Magic Kingdom Dessert Parties

Three of the parties are actually in the park itself, and then there’s a fancy one over in Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

Enchantment Pre-Party

The Enchantment Pre-Party takes place at the Tomorrowland Terrace. It includes a variety of desserts (like chocolate-dipped strawberries and butterscotch pudding) as well as some drink options (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic).

Guests can check in 90 minutes before the fireworks show begins. They’ll be shown to a reserved viewing area (standing room only) in the Plaza Garden for the show.

This party costs $99 per adult and $59 per child.

Enchantment After Party

The Enchantment After Party is the same as the pre-party, just in reverse. Guests will watch the Disney Enchantment from the Plaza Garden viewing area (standing room only). Then they’ll head to the Tomorrowland Terrace for the same selection of treats and drinks.

This party also costs $99 per adult and $59 per child.

Enchantment Eats and Seats

Enchantment Eats and Seats takes place on the Tomorrowland Terrace Patio. Guests can check in an hour before Enchantment starts, and they can grab some desserts and drinks and then sit down.

The drinks and desserts are the same as the other parties, but guests at this party can sit at tables on the patio while they watch the Enchantment show. Basically, it’s exactly what it sounds like: eating while you sit and watch the show.

This event is $114 per adult and $69 per child.

Contemporary Celebration at the Top

The fanciest party is over inside California Grill at the Contemporary Resort. It’s the Contemporary Celebration at the Top. Here, guests will have an hour-long cocktail party (with drinks, savory snacks, and treats) before the Enchantment show.

Then they head out to the terrace to watch the fireworks from above.

After the show, guests can head back inside for some coffee, more dessert, and cordials.

This party is the most expensive, at $129 per person (adults and children). It’s also the only one with a dress code — guests are asked to wear nicer clothing and leave the tank tops, flip-flops, cut-offs, hats, and t-shirts behind.

Which Party Is Worth the Cost?

In our opinion, the best party for adults (and older kids) is the Celebration at the Top.

This party was only $30 more than the basic standing-room-only dessert party in the Magic Kingdom. And it had a lot more to offer in terms of atmosphere, food, and drinks.

There were both savory and sweet snacks, whereas the other dessert parties only had, well, dessert (and a few options for cheese and crackers). At the Contemporary, we had sushi, sliders, bao buns, and more in addition to the sweet offerings.

There’s also an open bar at the Celebration at the Top, which meant a more diverse selection of drinks available.

Although we could only see fireworks views from further away, we didn’t feel like we missed out too much in comparison to the other dessert parties. The location for the other dessert parties isn’t great for seeing the projections down Main Street, so really the Contemporary views aren’t much different in terms of what you can actually see.

The music from the show is piped in as well, which makes the experience magical even from far away. This might not be the best party for kids, though. The atmosphere is more upscale, and the dress code might not be a big hit with little ones. The food is also geared toward adults, with more sophisticated palettes in mind (we don’t know tons of kids who love sushi).

Best Value for Families with Younger Kids

If you’re traveling with younger kids, we thought the Eats and Seats party was the best option.

It’s just $15 more for adults and $10 more for kids, but you get your own space (including a table and chairs) so you don’t have to worry about people moving in front of you.

You also get longer to enjoy the food since you can keep eating during the show itself. That means you’ll get more value for the money you paid. We also thought the sound and views were a little better than the fancy party up at the Contemporary, since you’re much closer to the Castle and fireworks.

It’s a less formal experience, and being inside the Magic Kingdom makes it just a touch more magical for kids. So if you’re planning to splurge on a fireworks dessert party anyway, we think it’s worth it to pay the extra bit to get a seat and reserved table during the show.

In general, you definitely don’t have to pay for a dessert party to enjoy the new Disney Enchantment. We’ve also looked at the best places to watch the show when you’re not at one of these events, and you can get even better views of the projections if you’re choosing your own spot. But if you are planning to splurge a little, we recommend the Celebration at the Top for a fancy, upscale evening or the Eats and Seats for a more family-friendly atmosphere.
