NEWS: Travel Numbers Surpass 2019 For the First Time This Year

Travel has been on the rise in the United States now that COVID-19 vaccines have been widely available to the general public since May.

We’ve been seeing crowds increase in Disney World and the Orlando International Airport has seen a rise in passengers as they prepare for the hopeful increase of international travel. And, even more numbers are pointing to the heavy uptick in travel demand!

According to CNBC, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screened 2.15 million people on Thursday, July 1st, which is an increase of 3% compared to the same date in 2019.

This marks the first time that airport screenings have increased from 2019 levels. And, though the milestone isn’t likely to hold as the holiday weekend continues, it is still an indicator that travel demand is strong right now.

This comes as domestic U.S. leisure travel is on the rise and airlines continue to work to hire back employees and staff the flights needed to meet the demand that they are receiving.
