Recently, we’ve seen a ton of updates to mask requirements, including changes to the policies at both Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort.

And now, mask policy changes have made their way to select movie theaters as well. If you plan to head to the theater to catch a movie, like the newly released Cruella, here’s what you need to know.

The Orlando Sentinel has reported that select movie theater chains, including AMC, Regal, and Cinemark, will no longer require fully vaccinated moviegoers to wear face masks.

In line with current CDC guidelines, masks will be optional for those who are fully vaccinated and will be “strongly encouraged” for all other guests. Non-vaccinated customers will be allowed to remove their masks while eating and drinking inside the theater. Masks will still be required for all employees at AMC, Regal, and Cinemark locations.

All three companies have updated their websites to reflect the new face mask policies. They also note that policies can vary by location based on state and local guidelines, so moviegoers should continue to keep an eye on the updated policies for their area.

  1. Not true at Disney Springs. AMC still requires mask use for ALL visitors. There was a huge problem there this weekend between customers and employees when AMC continued to mandate masks because it is on Disney property. Please advise your readers this is currently being enforced at AMC Disney Springs despite not being enforced anywhere else.
