Life in the parks has been looking very different for Disney World Cast Members recently as a new dress code was unveiled, with more relaxed policies surrounding outfits and appearances.

While we’ve been able to see the excitement amongst the Cast Members in person, more changes are coming to operations soon.
The U.S. News & World Report has reported that the International Brotherhood of Teamsters can still control the local affiliate in charge of Disney performers. Recently, the leader was removed due to complaints that there was mismanagement of Disney’s entertainment Cast Members, according to a federal judge.

The Orlando-based Local 365 represents thousands of key workers as part of central Florida’s tourism industry. Last week, U.S. District Carlos Mendoza refused to end a trusteeship for the union after Gary Brown, a previous officer of Local 385, filed a lawsuit in February that stated the takeover had been stretched out for too longe, according to U.S. News & World Report.

While the lawsuit wanted to end the trusteeship and elect in new officers as soon as possible, a judge ruled that the International Brotherhood of Teamsters could hold the elections in the summer. The case hasn’t been dismissed to ensure that these elections are held by the end of August. The judge also ruled that these delays could easily be blamed on the pandemic.

A third of Local 385’s members are Disney Cast Members, including performers and face characters. Other members include important tourism businesses, like UPS drivers, hotel employees, food service workers, rental car employees, and more across 20 central Florida counties.
