Last month, we shared the news that the Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa would be reopening for Disney Vacation Club Members on December 6th. The DVC property would have been the first Disneyland Resort hotel to reopen since the three hotel properties closed in mid-March.
After the state of California released information regarding a new stay-at-home order, however, the hotel’s reopening timeline was called into question, since nonessential travel would be restricted once a region falls under the order.
According to Disney Vacation Club’s website, the Grand Californian will not reopen as planned on December 6th. Only the DVC Villas were originally scheduled to reopen at this time, and Disney says they will “further review the new regional stay at home order announced by the State of California.”
We spoke with a Cast Member this afternoon as well to confirm that the hotel’s reopening has been delayed.
What is unknown at this time is how the state’s new stay-at-home order would impact Downtown Disney, which now includes Buena Vista Street.
We’ll be keeping a close watch on the Disneyland Resort in the coming days and weeks to bring you the latest information regarding California’s new stay-at-home order.
