When we say it has been a wild year, we mean it.

It feels like we’ve been on a rollercoaster of ups and downs and now we’re looking back at one of the weirdest years on records. Right now, we want to talk about the ups! Over at Universal Orlando Resort, there were some pretty great things that went down this year.
Here are the 7 best things that happened in Universal Orlando in 2020!
1. Surprise Halloween Horror Nights Houses
When Halloween Horror Nights were canceled, we were agog and aghast. Still, Universal made it up to us with two daytime Horror Nights Houses that park-goers could hit during regular hours. That sure goes a long way to holding us over until next year!

2. Christmas Walkthrough with Macy’s Balloons
For the holiday season, and in lieu of the annual Holiday Parade, Universal introduced a new walkthrough attraction featuring larger than life Macy’s balloons and a distanced meet and greet with Santa. That sure checks off a few boxes on our Christmas lists.

3. Distanced Character Interactions
Speaking of Santa, he is only one of the many, many beloved folks you can meet at a distance in Universal. We’ve had a blast waving and talking to everyone from Sideshow Bob (from The Simpsons) to a Knight Bus driver (from Harry Potter). My personal favorite? It’s gotta be Santa Shrek. IYKYK.

4. Official Announcement of Velocicoaster
Even though we’ve had our very strong suspicions for a while, Universal finally confirmed the Velocicoaster instead of denying its very obvious existence. This massive thrill ride is set to debut in the Summer of 2021.

5. *Chef’s Kiss* Twitter Jokes
Have you ever looked at Universal Orlando’s Twitter? The AllEars team has a blast sharing funny tweets from this account with one another, and 2020 had some good ones. Take this Turkey Leg “update” making fun of Twitter Stories, for instance. Seriously, give @UniversalORL a follow.

6. Opened The Bourne Stuntacular
And last but certainly not least, Universal opened The Bourne Stuntacular — a stunt show based on the Jason Bourne series and OMG, is it a blast. You won’t believe the wild stunts they accomplish in this stage show! It’s a new gem of the resort.
