PHOTOS: Take a Look at Updates for Universal Orlando’s VelociCoaster and Volcano Bay!

Whether it’s an old classic or a wildly anticipated new roller coaster, it’s exciting to gain a new perspective on attractions throughout Disney World and Universal.

There’s no better perspective than one from the sky, especially when those aerial views get us up close and personal with some literal nesting raptors on the under-construction VelociCoaster!

Universal’s VelociCoaster is hands-down one of the most eagerly awaited roller coasters in quite some time, and while we’ve been anxiously awaiting its debut next summer, we’ve also been excitedly following its construction progress!

VelociCoaster Construction

Thanks to @bioreconstruct on Twitter, we got a great aerial view of the Jurassic World VelociCoaster! It’s noted that the construction fence was recently removed over the bypass bridge. We can’t wait for this coaster to be completed!

We also found an unexpected surprise…an actual raptor nesting atop the raptor ride! As seen in these incredible aerial photos from @bioreconstruct on Twitter, it seems an osprey has made itself at home at the top of the sky-high attraction!

It’s really only fitting that this bird is settling on the VelociCoaster. After all, as the paleontologists point out in Jurassic Park, velociraptors and birds have a lot more in common than meets the eye. Such as a shared affinity for roller coasters, apparently.

The osprey has even inspired its own “Life Finds A Way” shirt! Someone get this osprey its own spin-off franchise ASAP!

Meanwhile, elsewhere in Universal, @bioreconstruct is at it again with this sweeping aerial vista of Volcano Bay, which is looking a bit dryer than year’s past. For the park’s winter closure (through March fyi), the water attraction’s pools have been drained!

Between this volcanic activity and the VelociRaptor raptor, these photos are providing the perfect amount of excitement and thrill while we wait for the attractions to open!
