Disney World is set to reopen in just a few weeks, and the parks have been ramping up their health and safety measures in preparation for everyone visiting.

Disney has already set up guidelines for sanitization protocols, social distancing, face covering requirements, and more. However, certain Cast Members may need to be closer than 6 feet to other people during certain scenarios. In order to continue providing a safe workplace to employees, there has been a new measure put in place to assist Cast Members unable to follow distancing requirements at all times.
Although everyone entering the parks must wear a face mask, Attractions Cast Members may need an extra level of protection in particular scenarios. Since distancing isn’t entirely possible during Height Check and other ride safety protocols, Unite Here Local 362 has included a new guideline for Attractions Cast Members who deal with these situations.

If a Cast Member is unable to social distance during their job at an attraction, they will be provided with a face shield to wear on top of their mask as another safety barrier. Since there are already employees being called back to the multiple reopening attractions in Disney World, it’s important to continue keeping everyone’s safety in mind ahead of time.

Unite Here has been able to bring more health and safety measures into theme parks thanks to the workers who have spoken up to Union Representatives. The union has stated that they want to continue assisting workers everywhere, so there is now a health and safety questionnaire available for Cast Members under Local 362.
