Could Shanghai Disneyland's New Character Meet and Greet Guidelines Be Implemented at Disney World and Disneyland?

After closing earlier this year due to the ongoing global health crisis, Shanghai Disneyland is opening up later this month! The resort’s hotel and Disneytown area have been open since early March, but this will be the first time since January that the park will be open.

In regards to questions on how the re-opening will work with limited capacity and precautionary measures in place, Shanghai Disneyland has released a statement detailing each implementation. One of the categories the park has addressed are the character meet and greets, for which they have a policy implemented that could potentially guide future recommendations at the American Disney Parks.

Once Shanghai Disneyland officially begins its phased reopening on May 11th, close character interactions and photos with Mickey, Minnie, and the rest of the gang will be suspended during the initial run.

However, they will appear in each of the lands from a distance to welcome everyone back to the park. You will also be able to spot the characters in a special new processional called Mickey and Friends Express that will take place several times during the early days of the reopening.

While nothing has been confirmed in regards to the re-opening of Disney World and Disneyland, the changes that are being implemented at Shanghai Disneyland certainly are ones we can look to for potential guidelines that could be brought to the US Disney Parks.
