REVIEW: This New Disney Restaurant Has Us Questioning … Everything

Quincy and I recently got the chance to visit the brand-new Disney Adventure World at Disneyland Paris and have had SO much fun exploring this new land.

Olaf’s Cold Hug

We’ve been making our way to all of the rides, experiences, and restaurants that this new land has to offer. Of course, we had to stop by Nordic Crowns Tavern in World of Frozen, and we’re bringing you our FULL review!

Background

This new quick-service restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. It features decorations that tell the story of the kingdom through galleries of paintings and royal artifacts. On the outside of the buildings, the colors match Elsa’s and Anna’s coronation dresses. There are purples and blues along with yellows and greens.

Nordic Crown Tavern

Here’s what you need to know about dining at this restaurant.

Atmosphere

Inside the restaurant, you can see family portraits of Anna and Elsa throughout the years, along with some of their closest friends and family, like Sven, Kristoff, and Olaf. You can even spot a cat that was in Olaf’s Frozen Adventure! The cat’s sibling is in Hong Kong Disneyland.

Family portraits

There are lots of Norwegian and Nordic details around the restaurant, as well. You can see Rosemaling, the design along the bottom, throughout the movies and other Arendellian craftsmanship.

The dining room

But enough about that, what are we eating?!

Food & Drinks

At this spot, you can find a customizable experience inspired by Nordic cuisine. The menu has 16 possible combinations with bases like mashed potatoes or quinoa, paired with proteins like grilled salmon or Nordic meatballs, plus seasonal vegetables and tangy cranberry or creamy dill sauce.

Menu

We grabbed the Salmon Steak with mustard and dill sauce with the crushed potatoes and vegetable mix, and I hate to admit it, but it tastes about how it looks. To quote Quincy, “This is a new low for Disneyland Paris food.” So we really didn’t like this dish. We felt it had a fishy taste and didn’t think the mustard sauce added much to it. The potatoes really didn’t hit right with us either and we thought the veggies were a bit overcooked.

Salmon steakTo drink, we ordered Olaf’s Cold Hug. This is on the menu for kids, but we had to try it. It’s just ice cream: either vanilla or tutti frutti, your choice. We went with tutti frutti because we thought it would be more interesting, but it tasted like really old bubblegum. Olaf should probably stick with warm hugs. Who knows, though? Kids will probably like it, and really, isn’t that the whole point of items on the kids’ menu?

Sorry, Olaf, but we didn’t like it

In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disneyland Paris and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for the latest Disney news and more!
