We Just Got an Exclusive Look at Disney’s NEW Walking, Talking Olaf!

We’ve seen a lot of incredible pieces of Disney Imagineering technology throughout the years. One of those has been through animatronics!

Disney just gave us a new look at the walking and talking Olaf animatronic, and let us just say, we’re not sure we’ve EVER seen anything like this. We’re massive Frozen fans here at AllEars, and Olaf walked right up to us, and we might have cried (and you know what, you would too!)

Say hi to Olaf! We heard he gives warm hugs.

He is walking around all on his own, so there’s no track, strings, or anything in between. He was pretty big, too!

Do you recognize that voice? Olaf is still voiced by Josh Gad, who did the audio for the original movies. This really helps bring him to life to be the Olaf we know and love. Imagineering worked directly with Walt Disney Animation Studios to make sure he was as authentic as possible.

His mouth and eyes are fully articulated so he can make his classic expressions, and his arms, nose, buttons, eyebrows, and hair are all magnetically attached so he can rearrange his details.

Olaf’s new home is World of Frozen, located in the newly reimagined Disney Adventure World in Disneyland Paris. This second gate has been completely refurbished, including the addition of World of Frozen, which seriously looks like the real Arendelle. He’s also going to come to Hong Kong Disneyland’s World of Frozen in the future.

The park expansion opens on March 29th, and he’s been walking around saying hi to guests during previews. The way he moves is so fluid, we almost can’t believe he’s real.

In Hollywood Studios at Disney World, a new experience called Walt Disney Studios is opening May 26th and will include Olaf Draws! These classes walk you through how to draw some of your favorite Disney characters, and Olaf will be your host. We know he’s going to be an audio-animatronic, but we’re not sure if he’ll be walking around like the one in Disneyland Paris, so we’re just going to have to wait to see for ourselves.

We’re so glad that Olaf is a new addition to the parks, and we hope this continues a trend of amazing animatronics coming to Disney Parks. Make sure you keep following AllEars for more Disney updates.

I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD TRY THIS AT DISNEYLAND PARIS, BUT IT MADE MY DAY 10X BETTER

Disclosure: We were invited by Disney to attend a preview of the Olaf animatronic. This did not affect our reporting of the event — our opinions are our own.
