If you’re planning a Disney trip this May, you’ll need to pay extra-special attention to airfare RIGHT NOW!

Following travel trends is the BEST way to maximize your value before flying with any airline. If you plan on traveling to Disney World or Orlando this upcoming May and are looking into booking airfare, here are some things you need to consider before checking out and buying your plane tickets…
For those who don’t know, a good general tip is that booking 60 days out from your flight is typically a good way to find the best fare. This, of course, isn’t foolproof, but giving yourself a two-to-three-month buffer usually lands you in that sweet spot. With May officially in that booking window, it’s an appropriate time to really focus on those rates.

Experts suggest booking two to three months out because it takes advantage of price fluctuation. Setting alerts on online tools like Google Flights, Hopper, or your airline’s app gets you access to some of the best deals — but you’ll need to act fast. When airfare drops, it usually doesn’t stay low for long.

If you’re dead-set on flying in May, you’re picking one of the most ideal months, weather-wise. Summer can be HOT AND HUMID in Orlando, and pretty miserable. As summer progresses into fall, get ready for afternoon thunderstorms and tons of rain. However, May still sits at the end of Spring, and the weather can be cooler. It’s still warm, but nearly as bad as it can be. May, however, sits in a sweet spot on the calendar.

Of course, Central Florida is always prone to bad weather, but it’s usually not as bad in May — which can mean fewer weather-related flight delays and smoother travel days.
This is a double-edged sword, however, as the better weather is not a secret, so flight demand can be higher than usual. Watching airfare early is the best way to save during a high-demand travel season. Of course, demand will likely be through the roof Memorial Day weekend, so you may want to zero in on the first two weeks of May if you can.

In early May, crowd levels can still be manageable. The stretch between spring break season and Memorial Day weekend is often a quieter window at Disney World before summer vacation crowds start arriving.
You should also keep in mind that Disney’s Hollywood Studios will get an influx of Star Wars fans in May when the NEW The Mandalorian and Grogu missions debut on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run on May 22nd.

Finding the perfect airfare for May seems daunting at first, but just be sure to set fare notifications, compare prices as soon as you can, and follow us for all the latest Disney World and travel trends that will give you a leg up when planning your perfect vacation!
