Theme parks have the magic to transport their guests into mystical lands far removed from the real world — but one European experience in particular intends to take guests back in time!

Opening in the summer of 2026, Kynren — The Storied Lands will be a NEW historical theme park experience expansion at the United Kingdom’s Kynren Park! This expanded area will bring legend to life with some incredible entertainment, and we’ve got the info on what you can expect.
Officially, Kynren — The Storied Lands is billed as “a spectacular daytime experience where visitors explore immersive environments and watch legends come to life through monumental live performances.”

The area will be set within Kynren Park against the “dramatic backdrop of Auckland Palace and the surrounding countryside.”
Kynren opened in 2016 in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, as an attraction that features a 90-minute nighttime live-action spectacular that depicts more than 2,000 years of British history and mythology. The attraction displays scenes ranging from the Roman conquest of Britain to King Arthur’s legendary quest for the Holy Grail. It even delves into 20th-century history with Winston Churchill’s iconic “Finest Hour” World War II speech. During the show, Kynren uses large-scale productions and impactful storytelling that resonates with its guests.

Kynren – The Storied Lands will be a daytime historical theme park located within the wider Kynren park — but it won’t be your typical theme park experience. The expansion will instead focus on live-action shows and immersive environments that use “cinematic music, breathtaking stunts, extraordinary animals and large-scale sets to create a visitor experience unlike anything else in the UK.”
As visitors enter, they will immediately step back in time to Fruma: Neolithic Britain and the era of the first settlers.

As such, the park is opening in phases, and the first phase will include five major shows and immersive experiences set in their own environment. They are as follows:
- Land of the Vikings: Here, you’ll find a “Viking settlement on the edge of change. Discover traditional crafts, meet warriors preparing for conflict and feel the tension rising.” You’ll also be able to witness a live-action Viking spectacle where “shields clash, fire rages and loyalties are tested.”
- Victorian Imaginariums: This area is set in a Victorian library that lets you wander through an outdoor storytelling maze. You’ll come across characters, “inventive minds and theatrical surprises inspired by the wonder and creativity of the Victorian age.”
- Legend of the Wear: A lake becomes a stage for the retelling of the Lambton Worm legend. It’ll feature chaotic water effects and even a monster rising from the water.
- The Lost Feather: A live 3,600-seat arena will house a spectacle where birds fly above you, “soaring through a living landscape of water, mist and light within a dramatic nest-inspired arena.” This show will include 250 birds in free flight and will celebrate “humanity’s connection with nature while sharing a powerful conservation message about protecting the world they depend on.”
- Medieval Spectacular: This will be an equestrian spectacle that blends storytelling with horsemanship. It’ll feature stunts and a “cinematic scale” set in the medieval world “shaped by power, injustice and courage.” The show follows a young woman whose life is torn apart and built back together as she forges a bond with a wild horse.

Phase two of the rollout will include the Flambards Victorian Village — and its 40 sets and scenes — in 2027. In 2026, guests will still be able to enjoy a special Victorian preview, which will include “Birch & Birch, the first shop originally installed in Cornwall’s Flambards Victorian Village — a richly detailed general store featuring marble and mahogany counters, traditional display shelving, coffee grinders, cheese cutters, historic shop fittings and authentic period packaging and goods.”
Other future productions include attractions themed to Roman Britain, the Tudors, maritime conquests, and legends like Excalibur and Robin Hood.

Tickets to Kynren — The Storied Lands officially go on sale in April, and Kynren — An Epic Tale of England will continue its Saturday night performances in conjunction with the new daytime park.
