According to The Orlando Sentinel, two men are suing Universal Orlando over alleged injuries they sustained when riding Harry Potter and the Ministry of Magic in Universal’s Epic Universe.

The lawsuit alleges that a malfunction of the ride caused both men to sustain injuries.
The men, Derrick Burrough and Erick Burrough, who are brothers, filed the lawsuit that seeks $50,000 in damages from Universal. The two lawsuits claim they suffered injuries resulting in the “loss of ability to lead and enjoy a normal life” when they rode Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry in Epic Universe with their family on Christmas Day last year.

The lawsuit claims that a ride malfunction occurred while they were seated on the ride, causing the ride vehicle to come to an abrupt stop, causing the brothers to be “thrusted erratically” in their seats. The lawsuit claims that this caused both men to sustain “significant” injuries to their necks and backs.

The lawsuit claims that Universal was negligent in maintaining the ride by failing to fix “a dangerous condition about which the defendant either knew or should have known.” The lawsuits alleged that the men suffered “disability, physical impairment, disfigurement, mental anguish and inconvenience; expense of hospitalization, medical and nursing care and treatment; and past lost wages, loss of earning power and diminished earning capacity.”

“The most important job of a theme park is to keep its guests safe. Instead, Universal allegedly operated a ride that had been plagued by repeated malfunctions, glitches, and hard stops since it opened,” attorney John Morgan said in the release. “Our clients continue to seek treatment for their injuries, which are impacting their everyday lives. They have filed these lawsuits to hold Universal accountable for a safety incident we allege was entirely preventable.”

It seems if they had ALL those problems and loss of income and disfigurement, they would be suing for A LOT more than 50,000. They just wants a payday. I hate people sometimes for real.
$50,000 is the minimum damages to appear in federal court. It doesn’t mean they are only seeking that amount. It’s a statement in the complaint to satisfy jurisdiction.
LOL…unless these brothers are conjoined twins, having both of them injured in the same way at the same time is a little fishy!
What a bunch of con artists
Those guys are full of it! They didn’t sustain any injuries. They went to universal looking to sue for anything. I hope a judge has sense enough to throw that case out. Get a job and stop trying to sue.
People are dumb and greedy they not winning a dime, you’re going up against Comcast NBC … And then attractions state before you enter the queue line all the disclaimers
And this is why ticket prices are so ridiculously expensive! Ugh!
Really?? With all the warnings they should rather have had an eye test! Stunning ride and as always there are risks. Stop blaming everything and everyone!
It’s this ride safe to go on now?
How were only 2 men, out of all riders, the only ones who received injuries? Seems like they didn’t read the notice at the front to not ride if you have pre existing issues and to keep yourself back against your seat.
I just ride that ride. My friend who has cancer, just rode that ride. We had no problems.
I bit down on bone in my beef bourguignon and am still dealing with the effects 5 weeks later … Did I sue? No.
There’s no way that ride hurt anyone significantly. That’s a crock and makes me mad. Esp reading this while eating my breakfast and still can’t chew on my left side.
