NEWS: Visitors Stranded on Disneyland Monorail Following Power Outage, 60 People Evacuated

A Monorail power outage caused a major stir at Disneyland Resort.

The Anaheim Police Department reported 60 people were trapped on the attraction after it stopped on the track near Space Mountain.

CBS News got official word from Disneyland that the power outage occurred in the late afternoon on Thursday, January 8th. It impacted two trains, and no injuries were reported.

A video from NBC shows the evacuation process with visitors using a fire truck ladder to get down from the Monorail.

Disneyland opens at 8 AM on Friday, January 9th, so it’s unclear how the Monorail will run. We’ll be tracking it for updates, and if you are visiting, get the latest updates from the Disneyland app. Currently, the Disneyland page for the Monorail lists its hours as 8 AM to 11 PM.

This is not the first time we’ve seen a Disney transportation incident. Over at Disney World, the Skyliner has crashed on a few occasions.
