Buckle up — the start of 2026 is gearing up to be rough for several Disneyland rides.

The holiday season is coming to an end, which means this January will see a ton of rides close as overlays or removed, and rides shut down for routine repair due to the colder weather and slight decrease in attendance. If you plan on visiting “The Happiest Place On Earth” this month, keep in mind that a bunch of attractions will be unavailable to you.
This January, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure will have a combined 8 attractions closed at some point. They are as follows:
Disneyland Park
Haunted Mansion — Closed January 12th to January 22nd
Halloween and the holiday seasons are over, which means the regular version of the Haunted Mansion is FINALLY coming back!

Haunted Mansion Holiday — the Nightmare Before Christmas ride overlay — has been featured at Disneyland since August, but will finally return to normal this January. Starting January 23rd, guests can experience the regular plot with the familiar cast of characters once more as the 999 happy haunts resume their regularly-scheduled terrors.

Mark Twain River Boat — Closed January 12th to January 15th
It’s not uncommon to see the two main ships on the Rivers of America receive routine maintenance, which is exactly what will happen this January with the Mark Twain River Boat.

This steamboat will be closed only for a few days between January 12th and January 15th, and will be back up and sailing along the river on January 16th.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance — Closed January 20th to TBA
This next one’s a doozy. Disneyland’s most popular ride — Rise of the Resistance — is closing for what could be a lengthy refurbishment.

The ride — which is Disneyland’s premier Lightning Lane Single Pass attraction — is notoriously complex. Often featuring several hiccups and missing elements, it appears that Disneyland is going to give it the TLC it deserves. Unfortunately, that means the ride is closing on January 20th, and no reopening date has been revealed at the time of this writing.

“it’s a small world” — Closed January 26th to TBA
The famous holiday overlay is LEAVING Disneyland’s “it’s a small world”, which means the ride will need to be closed for a bit.

The ride will be closed starting January 26th as Disneyland returns the ride to normal. An official reopening date has yet to be announced as of this writing.

Sailing Ship Columbia — Closed January 26th to January 29th
Like the Mark Twain River Boat, the Sailing Ship Columbia will also be getting a quick refurbishment.

This Rivers of America Attraction will be open while the Mark Twain Riverboat is closed, but will switch spots from January 26th to January 29th when it receives a brief refurbishment of its own.

Grizzly River Run — Closed January 5th 1st to TBA
Believe it or not, it does get kinda cold in Southern California during the winter, which makes it an ideal time to refurbish water rides like Grizzly River Run.

The rapids ride will close on January 5th, and a reopening date has not been announced at this time.

Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind — Closed January 5th to January 22nd
The family-friendly Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind is also getting a touch-up this January.

This tame ride in Pixar Pier will be closed on January 5th and reopen to guests beginning January 23rd.
Incredicoaster — Closed January 5th to February 5th
The Incredicoaster is no stranger to refurbishments and closures, and will receive another one beginning in late January.

Closing January 5th, this closure is about a month, as it’s currently scheduled to reopen to guests at Pixar Pier on February 6th after some routine maintenance.

Thrilling, but smooth, roller coaster ride with one loop and many steep drops and turns featuring scenes with the Incredibles.
