Don’t Let This Unscheduled Closure Ruin Your Disney World Trip

I know the Orlando winter is probably not even winter to those who come from the chilly Midwest or North, but for us locals, it’s starting to get pretty chilly!

So many of you visit our sunny Florida when you’re tired of the snow, and while it’s probably not going to snow here and cause road closures, snow days, and staying bundled up all day, there is a weather closure coming up that you should know about.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, one of its two water parks, will be closed on December 11th and 12th, likely due to weather, according to the Disney World calendar. We wouldn’t be surprised if it closes for more days later in December or into January.

Guests staying at a Disney World hotel get a free ticket to the water parks on the day of their check-in, and since the water park will be closed on that day, what are you going to do? You might be able to ask Cast Members at the front desk if they’re able to move it to another day, which we’ve sometimes seen for weather-related issues, but it’s not a guarantee if they can or not.

There’s also plenty to do without a park ticket! Since the holiday decorations are up around the different resorts, you can check out the massive Christmas trees and gingerbread displays for free. Some of our favorites are at the Grand Floridian…

Yep, that’s gingerbread!

You can also head to Disney Springs, where you can get all of your holiday shopping done. We love the Christmas Tree Stroll, which is a free scavenger hunt to mark off all the different trees and their themes. You even get a free prize at the end.

To stay up to date on closures, you can check available hours on the Disney World app. Make sure you keep following AllEars for more.
