If there’s one thing we know about Disney fans, it’s that we all have thoughts about Disney World hotels, the good, the magical, and the downright baffling.
Coronado Springs
Whether it’s an unforgettable view, a surprisingly comfy bed, or a room layout that leaves you questioning your life choices, everyone has a story. So, to dig a little deeper into what makes a hotel stay amazing…or not so amazing…we took the question straight to you, the people. And wow, you all had some experiences to share.
We recently asked our followers on Facebook: “We’re talking Disney World hotel stays! What was the best you ever had? What about the most nightmarish?” And honestly, you all delivered.
What do you think?
As we said, plenty of you shared a lot of thoughts, but there was one response from Kalley that really stood out.
“Best was yacht club with a fireworks view from our balcony.”
Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
First up, this reader started with a high note. A fireworks view from your balcony at Disney’s Yacht Club? That’s basically the dream scenario for anyone staying near EPCOT. It’s hard to top ending your night with a private show in your pajamas. This is the kind of Disney stay that sticks with you: the calm, the luxury, the convenience, and that perfect blend of Disney magic and resort comfort.
But then we get the flip side of that Disney hotel coin.
“Worst was the casitas at Coronado. The big sliding bathroom door and dark paint make the rooms feel like a jail cell.”
And there it is, the line that made us all pause. Comparing a Disney World room to a “jail cell” is a strong visual, and it tells you instantly how this stay felt. According to this reader, the combination of the heavy sliding bathroom door and the darker-toned decor wasn’t just a miss. It completely changed the vibe of the room.
Coronado Springs
Coronado Springs is a massive resort, and the Casitas section in particular can divide guests. Some love the architecture and details. Others? Well, as we see here, not so much. When someone describes their room as feeling like a jail cell, you know the atmosphere was off for them. A Disney hotel room should feel relaxing, bright, and comforting after a long park day, not claustrophobic or gloomy.

“Also getting around is like a big maze to find the rooms.”
If you’ve stayed at Coronado Springs before, you’re probably nodding along. This place is huge. Beautiful, yes. Peaceful, absolutely. But if you’re tired, sunburned, carrying three refillable mugs, and trying to find your room at 11 p.m. after fireworks, wandering through a labyrinth of similar looking buildings can test even the most seasoned Disney traveler. The size is part of its charm, but it can also be part of the frustration.
And honestly, this tracks. Art of Animation’s Little Mermaid rooms may not be the biggest on property, but cheerful is exactly the right word for them. Bright colors, whimsical touches, and bold theming can make all the difference. Sometimes you don’t need a sprawling room; you just need one that makes you smile when you walk in.
“Other then lack of storage we liked the room and really liked the QS options and large store.”

Storage is definitely limited in these rooms, but AoA does shine in other areas. Their food court is one of the most popular among the value resorts, and the gift shop is huge. Sometimes, the overall vibe and convenience can easily outweigh a few minor drawbacks.
Landscapes of Flavor
So there you have it, one reader’s best and most nightmarish Disney hotel stays, from dreamy fireworks views to a room that “feels like a jail cell.” Disney World resorts are wildly different from one another, and everyone’s experience is unique, which is exactly why we love hearing your stories. And now we want to hear even more from you!

One Reply to “YIKES. One Fan Says This Disney World Hotel Room “Feels Like a Jail Cell””
I will agree with the “jail cell” poster overall. We stayed at Casitas and did not enjoy it. I don’t think it felt like a jail cell but was very generic. We had a ton of other issues that the hotel was very slow to resolve, on the rare occasion it did. We also felt that the facility was run down – lots of worn/missing paint around the elevators and hallways.
AoA was however fantastic. The theming was fun (Nemo suite) and of course, being right next to the Skyliner is a huge plus.
