The Orlando Business Journal has reported that Kroger will close three e-commerce fulfillment centers at the end of January, including the Groveland location that served Central Florida and Disney World. Around 1,400 employees work at the Groveland distribution center.

The grocery delivery service will officially end on February 1st, 2026. The email to customers said, “We don’t make these decisions lightly, and we understand the impact this has on our customers and communities.”

A Kroger spokesperson confirmed that the company is ending its delivery service throughout the entire state, not just Central Florida.

The Groveland facility had 1,430 employees as of September 2025. A city of Groveland spokesperson said in an email, “We’ve already been in contact with Lake County and will work with CareerSource Central Florida to support employment strategy” for those workers impacted by the closure.

Additional fulfillment center closures will take place in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, and Frederick, Maryland. Kroger says it plans to monitor the performance of the remaining facilities before making any additional changes.

The closures are expected to have a roughly $2.6 billion impact on “impairment and related charges” during the third quarter of fiscal year 2025 because of the “automated fulfillment network not meeting financial expectations.”

Kroger said it will “continue to take advantage of automated customer fulfillment to increase customer engagement, capacity, and improve productivity and profitability” where demand is higher in certain areas.
