Walt Disney World has a litany of restaurants across the property, with a taste for every palate. However, not all of these restaurants are created equal. For example, this Coronado Springs dining spot wasn’t one of our favorites… until this year.

Located at the Coronado Springs Resort, this two-level restaurant features decorative Mayan motifs of fire, sun, and water, with a Tex-Mex-infused menu of traditional platters along with chef specialties. From an aesthetic standpoint, the open-air/multi-level layout has always added a different feel to the dining experience. That said, things have kicked up a notch this year.
There was a time when Maya Grill wouldn’t have been a top choice to dine at Disney World. As reader debg33 wrote in a review back in 2023, “We usually make a reservation for Mexican food at one of the restaurants in EPCOT but decided to try this instead. Big mistake. We dined here on 10/2. Overpriced for just so-so food. We get better at our local restaurant.” They ended their review with the equivalent of a mic drop, closing with “Even Chili’s is better than this.”

However, things have definitely gotten better in our eyes. It’s current menu, which includes appetizers like the Chicken Flautas (shredded chicken tinga wrapped inside corn tortillas, topped with a chipotle aioli, Mexican crema, and Pico de Gallo, napa cabbage, radish, cilantro, and queso fresco), salads, fajitas, and an impressive list of entrees…

… has made the restaurant one of the best unheralded spots offering Mexican and Spanish food on Disney property. That has been reflected in both our evolving opinions on the restaurant, as well as the scores our readers have given.

And then there’s the Fried Baby Churros. We LOVE the Fried Baby Churros. These $10 churros were perfectly cooked with a crispy outside and a hint of doughiness in the middle, all of which combined with the included ice cream and caramel sauce resulted in a sweet and crunchy treat.

Maya Grill has improved a ton at Walt Disney World this year, making the Coronado Springs restaurant a go-to on-property Mexican restaurant. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on Disney dining.

This is interesting. I was there in June for the first time and was quite disappointed. I have to say the cocktails were top notch. However, the food was over salted and nothing special. I had really looked forward to my meal there and left disappointed that I had spent almost $200 for drinks and a meal for 2 (including tip).
