Universal Studios has had a very eventful year! They opened a brand-new theme park, demolished a classic attraction, and they’re working on expansions as we speak (or type).

As things progress in the theme park, it also comes time for some much-needed maintenance. Starting very soon, a popular Harry Potter attraction will be temporarily closed, and we’d hate for it to throw off your game plans!
If you’re heading to Islands of Adventure soon, you might not be able to stop inside Hogwarts Castle! If you were looking to take flight on a broom with Harry and Ron, you need to triple-check your dates.

Starting on November 10th, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey will be closed for routine maintenance. The attraction will be unavailable, but you can still take those gorgeous castle photos outside!

The closure will last until November 20th, so luckily it isn’t too long. The ride takes you on a flight through Hogwarts and across the school grounds as you follow Harry and Ron through tons of adventures. The flight simulation attraction also has the most incredible queue if you’re a fan of the books or the movies.

The queue takes you through different rooms of the castle, like Dumbledore’s office, along with talking paintings and more. While this ride isn’t the most popular Potter attraction, the queue is a major reason fans are obsessed with this ride. If you’re curious, the most popular attraction goes to Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure in the same park or Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry over in Epic Universe.

If you’re a huge Potter Head, another important reminder is that the Hogwarts Express will also have a planned closure from February 9th – 23rd, 2026. This one affects both parks since the Hogwarts Express connects Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. This means your park-hopping will look a bit different, and you won’t get to take that classic ride to school.

We’re glad to see that the closures for both attractions are fairly short, so hopefully it won’t impact your trip too much. As always, be sure to keep following AllEars for more Universal news and updates.
