Drama has sparked again in the streaming world, as it appears Disney is struggling to come to an agreement with YouTube TV.

This comes after Disney+ announced more price increases, so many people may have chosen to slim down what streaming services they pay for to save money. If these companies can’t reach an agreement, ESPN and other Disney-owned channels may not be available on YouTube TV anymore.
According to CNBC, Disney began running public announcements Thursday evening on YouTube TV to inform customers that channels like ESPN, ABC, and others may be dropped from the network as early as October 30th (when the current contract ends) if Disney and YouTube TV can’t come to a new distribution agreement.

CNBC has reported that YouTube TV is asking for better rates for Disney’s programming, with a spokesperson for YouTube TV saying, “Unfortunately, Disney is proposing costly economic terms that would raise prices on YouTube TV customers and give our customers fewer choices, while benefiting Disney’s own live TV products – like Hulu + Live TV and soon, Fubo.” They also confirmed that if these channels remain unavailable for an extended period of time, YouTube TV will offer subscribers a $20 credit to make up for the loss.
A Disney spokesperson, on the other hand, said, “This is the latest example of Google exploiting its position at the expense of their own customers. If we don’t reach a fair deal soon, YouTube TV customers will lose access to ESPN and ABC, and all our marquee programming — including the NFL, college football, NBA and NHL seasons — and so much more.”
