A big change was just announced at Amazon.

Amazon is officially eliminating a program that allows Amazon Prime members to share the benefits of free shipping with anyone outside their household. Let’s take a look at the news.
Amazon plans on ending its “Prime Invitee Program”, which allows Amazon Prime members to share free shipping benefits with other households. This perk will come to an end on October 1st, according to CNBC.

Members will receive a notice which states, “We are writing to inform you that the Prime Invitee Program, which allowed sharing Prime’s fast, free delivery with others, will end on October 1, 2025. Your invited guests will be notified directly about this change by September 5, 2025.”

Amazon previously let Prime members share two-day shipping with one other adult in their household for free, even if they used a different address.
Now, based on Amazon’s updated wording, we’re left with an important question. Does this crackdown apply if you’re using a different shipping address when traveling? For example, if our primary residence is, say, Colorado, can we still enjoy the benefits of Prime shipping in, say, Orlando, Florida?
We love to have items sent directly to our hotel during our Disney World trips. We’ve ordered items we’ve forgotten, cases of water, extra strollers, and anything else we need, directly to our hotel. With the fast shipping, we’re usually able to get it the next day, which can help our trip go smoother.

We enjoy shipping items directly to our room when we’re at Disney World; you never know what essentials you might need. With the fast Prime shipping, we’re usually able to get our items within the next few days, which has been handy for us to get what we need as soon as possible on our trip.

An Amazon spokesperson confirmed that they are phasing out of the program to focus on ‘Amazon Family’, which allows free shipping with one other adult, four children, and up to four teens added before April 7th, 2025. All users must share the same primary residence, which Amazon defines as the “address you consider to be your home and where you spend the majority of your time.”

It seems like businesses are starting to buckle down on having one address for subscription-based memberships. Streaming services like Netflix have gotten rid of sharing accounts across addresses, and it seems like this trend will continue.

They should still allow it among family members as long as they are paying for it.
