The Rules About Bags at Universal Hollywood

We’ve been going to theme parks for decades, and having the perfect park bag is a necessity for a successful day. Not every bag can fit the bill, though, so that’s why we’re sharing the bag rules you need to know before going to Universal Hollywood!

When it comes to bringing a bag to Universal Hollywood, there are a few things you need to know! Starting off with entering the parks. Every bag or package will be x-rayed or inspected before going into the park, so if there’s anything you don’t want someone seeing, don’t bring it!

When it comes to prohibited items in your bags, Universal states “any type of explosive or weapon, alcoholic beverages, marijuana, illegal drugs, clothing likely to create a danger or disturbance, clothing that may create a false impression of employment by Universal or as emergency personnel, segways (unless utilized as an ADA mobility device), hoverboards and drones” are not allowed in the park or your bags! You can bring selfie sticks, but Universal can ask you to put them away at any time, and you must put them away on all attractions.

When it comes to the size of your bags, all sizes of bags, purses, or fanny packs are allowed in the park! However, hard-sided coolers, suitcases, or any rolling bags are not permitted, so leave them in the room or the car. If you plan on bringing food into the park and have a soft-sided insulated bag, it cannot exceed 8.5 inches wide by 6 inches high by 6 inches deep.

There are tons of amazing foods inside the park, but if you are bringing food inside, acceptable items in your bag are:

- Bottled water (maximum 2 liters)
- Small snacks
- Any food required for special dietary needs
- Any food required for medical purposes and medically indicated nutritional supplements
- Baby food/baby formula

There are also several prohibited items, like:

- Alcohol
- Marijuana
- Glass containers
- Open containers
- Large coolers of food

While bags are allowed in the park, there are a few rides where bags are not permitted. Those rides are Jurassic World—The Ride, Revenge of the Mummy—The Ride, and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey! Revenge of the Mummy sometimes might permit smaller fanny packs, but if a Team Member tells you to put it away, just listen!

These rides do provide free lockers for the duration of your wait in line and your ride, but they aren’t the biggest lockers around, so if you bring a really large bag, you might have to pay for a bigger locker. When it comes to bags, we have a few favorites! This Joysoda Fanny Pack is one we love!
