If you’re heading to Disney World this week, be ready to face some extreme heat.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, heat advisories are in effect from 12 PM to 7 PM on Monday, July 28th, and here’s everything you need to know to prepare for it.

While this heat advisory is in effect for July 28th in Central Florida, the heat is expected to persist for the rest of the week, particularly with a low chance of rain and storms. The temperature is expected to range from the upper 90s to 112°.

As someone who currently lives in Central Florida but also grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the intense heat is a common occurrence, I have some top tips for staying cool during your Disney World vacation.

For Monday, it might be best to make this a resort day, where you can relax by the pool and retreat to your hotel room whenever you need a break. You can also take a half-day in the parks and finish at night, when it will be slightly cooler. It’s a great time to catch the new nighttime parade in Magic Kingdom, too.

Cool off at your hotel’s pool

Throughout the week, make sure to be prepared. Bringing cooling towels, fans, hats, and extra changes of clothes can help fight off some of the heat. Staying hydrated is also essential, and I love to grab free water from quick service locations throughout the parks to fill up my bottle.

One of the most effective ways to cope with the heat is to get out of it. Having a longer meal inside a cool, air-conditioned restaurant or watching an indoor show can help cool down throughout the day. There are also spots where you can go inside and sit down and take the break you need. My favorites are the Merchant of Venus in Magic Kingdom, which is currently decorated to the movie Elio, and the Pixar Short Film Festival or Imagination Pavilion in EPCOT.

A great place to cool down

Make sure to listen to your body, take breaks when needed, and maintain a balanced intake of water and food. While it’s frustrating to have to take breaks on vacation, taking the time to rest will help you enjoy the other days of your vacation.
