5 SERIOUS Downsides To Staying at Disney’s Coronado Springs Hotel

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is a stunning blend of Southwest charm and modern elegance, offering guests a unique mix of themed architecture, tranquil lagoons, and some seriously upgraded amenities.

With its gorgeous Gran Destino Tower, on-site dining options like Three Bridges Bar & Grill, and sprawling grounds. It’s a favorite for many — and for good reason. But as beautiful as it is, there are a few serious downsides you’ll want to know before you book.

1. Multiple Bus Stops Can Be a Real Pain
Coronado Springs has four internal bus stops, and depending on where you’re staying, yours might be last. That means if you’re trying to rope drop a park and the earlier stops fill up the bus, you could be left waiting… and waiting. It’s especially frustrating during peak times when everyone’s trying to get to the parks at the same time. Definitely something to factor in if you’re relying on Disney transportation.

2. It Gets Crowded (Like, Really Crowded)
What a lot of guests don’t realize is that Coronado Springs is a go-to for conventions, conferences, and even some sporting events. That means the resort can get very busy, especially around dining areas, the lobby, and the tower. You might be expecting a relaxing vacation vibe, but instead find yourself navigating through groups of badge-wearing businesspeople or entire cheer squads.

3. It’s Huge (and That’s Not Always a Good Thing)
This resort is massive. If your room is on the far end of the property, you could be looking at a 10–15 minute walk just to get to the lobby, dining, or the main pool. That’s a lot of extra steps after a long park day. And if it’s raining or late at night? Not ideal. Some guests love the sprawling layout, but others find it exhausting.

4. It Feels Like Two Totally Different Hotels
Staying in the Gran Destino Tower? You’re getting a sleek, modern hotel experience with indoor hallways, elevators, and deluxe-style finishes. Staying in the outer buildings? It’s a more classic moderate resort vibe, with exterior entry rooms and a different atmosphere. It’s not a bad thing, but the two sides feel so different that it can be jarring, and it might not be what you expected when you booked.

5. The Traffic Around the Resort Can Be Rough
Coronado is located right off a main road in Disney. A gateway to very popular areas off of Disney property. If you’re driving yourself, build in extra time. Even the rideshare pickup areas can get congested during busy times, which can throw off your whole schedule if you’re trying to get somewhere on time.
