The Trend I’m Begging Disney Adults to Stop Following

Disney Adults are into LOTS of trends right now, but that doesn’t mean they’re all made equal.

When I’m out at Disney World, I’m on the search for lots of things changing around Disney, big and small. Some of the biggest changes I’ve seen lately, though, aren’t quite where you might expect them. Yep, they’ve got everything to do with what’s trendy in Disney World right now — and I’ve got a lot of THOUGHTS on them!

Disney Adult trends are EVERYWHERE — I’m being serious

They’re everywhere you look in stores, online, on social media, and it seems like no matter where you turn, someone’s trying to make a trend out of what you wear to how you act in the parks.

While it’s certainly great to draw inspiration from most of these trends, sometimes they’re taken a bit too far and can consume you before you realize it. At that point, you’ve got to stop and ask yourself who it is you’re trying to convince at the end of the day by trying to keep up with the latest fashions, etiquette, and more.

Aren’t you exhausted yet? I AM.

Trying to keep up with the latest trends lately has felt more like trying to “keep up with the Joneses” (whoever THEY are). As a working mom and Disney Adult, I’ve got lots of things that consume my time already, and making every attempt to keep up with something that overall is so trivial and likely will change in a few months is exhausting.

Instead, my time and energy is best spent putting things that ARE truly important to me or interest me first, rather than running out to the parks for the $$ new snack, supporting change to the parks or stale-matting any change that keeps the parks from looking just like we know them right now, and scouring online for hours tracking down the latest nostalgic trends (knowing they’ll be headed to the thrift store in a few months time).

Your parents were right — YOU are enough.

There, I’ve said it, YOU are enough. That’s it. What brings you joy, happiness, and makes you feel most alive are what make you, you. It’s ok that your opinion doesn’t match everyone else’s, and your worth is not based on what type of shirt or shoe you choose to wear at Disney (or how many likes and followers you might have on Instagram).

Adorable!

Maybe it’s just the mom in me, but the biggest trend I wish Disney Adults would break is following what everyone else is doing. There are so many different personalities represented in Disney characters from all walks of life and opinions, and they’re growing with every movie, show, and new land.  If they can all exist together, there’s a place for us to do that too.

Truthfully, the absolute best trend you could ever choose to follow is the one that makes you happy just being you. Find that spark that makes you unique and show it off with pride!

  1. I love it Myranda! Thank you for reminding everyone that we are all individuals. We are uniquely made, and our value doesn’t come from what we wear or what we do. So have fun, be yourself, and be grace filled. That’s the best trend you can follow!
