We’re Getting Anxious About the Pirates Lounge Coming to Magic Kingdom

We’re not gonna lie — we’re getting antsy waiting for the new Pirates of the Caribbean Tavern.

This new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge is slated to open later this year at Magic Kingdom, but there’s still so much we don’t know. How packed will it be? How expensive will the items be? We’re taking a crack at answering these questions…

Let’s start with the first question: How popular will the new Pirates Lounge be? The answer to that — based on historical precedent — is probably VERY popular.

When something’s new at Disney World, it’s safe to assume it’ll be a hot commodity — at least during its initial rollout. That means reservations will likely be hard to come by. We still don’t know how the reservation system will look, if a waitlist will be available, and all the intricacies that will come along with a grand opening.

What we can safely speculate is that the lounge will be in demand, so if you intend to visit it during its initial rollout, you’ll need to prioritize it on your Disney World itinerary.

The question about cost is a bit more complicated to answer. Our best comparison is probably Oga’s Cantina at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This popular Star Wars-themed lounge is also based on a beloved Disney IP and immerses guests in an atmospheric and unique dining experience.

Oga’s Cantina

When looking at the menu, you’re looking at cocktails between $18 and $46 (served in a souvenir mug), non-alcoholic beverages mostly around $7 to a little over $8, beers for $15.50, wine and cider for around $14 to $17, and eats between $12 and $22.

It’s totally possible we see similar kinds of pricing at the new Pirates Lounge, but at this point we’re still speculating. GIVE US MORE INFO, DISNEY!

It’s also worth noting that Oga’s Cantina serves batched cocktails, and that feature speeds up the service so much to get people in and out. It’s possible that the Pirates Lounge’s popularity is similar, and we see the tavern do its best to replicate this speedy process.

As we previously mentioned, the new lounge opens later this year and will “offer a welcoming haven for all pirate-kind, big and small, and everyone in between. Here, bandits and buccaneers-to-be from every corner of the seven seas are welcome to join together and raise a toast to the pirate life!”
