As the Universal Orlando Resort races towards the May 22nd opening of Epic Universe, two major portions of the resort’s expansion are already open to the public. To our surprise, one of them has a MAJOR advantage over the other.

As part of the Epic Universe expansion, the company is opening three new hotels in the vicinity of the new park. Two of these hotels, the Stella Nova Resort (which is “inspired by the infinite vastness of the unexplored universe, where galaxies spiral ever outward and unknown worlds revolve around unnamed stars”) and the Terra Luna Resort (which is “inspired by the thrill of exploring the unknown and pushing the limits of discovery”) have opened in advance of the park, and we’ve had the chance to experience both.
Much to our surprise, the Stella Nova Resort has a big perk that the Terra Luna Resort currently lacks. Namely, the former has a walking path directly to Epic Universe, while the latter does not.

Currently, to walk to Epic Universe from Terra Luna, guests would need to cross under the newly constructed traffic circle intersection area, which was not constructed with the appropriate infrastructure to allow for high volumes of guests.

We did speak to a Universal Team Member working at the resort who said that while there is currently no direct walking path, the hope is that one would be constructed eventually as the hotel is only about a mile from the park.

If you’re planning on staying at one of Universal’s new Prime Value hotels for your Epic Universe visit, we’d definitely advise taking this into account. If you plan on taking the shuttle to and from the park, either of the new hotels works. However, if you plan to get your steps in from walking between your hotel and the park, Stella Nova is the hotel for you. Check out our room tours at each!

We’re also (not so) patiently waiting for Universal Helios Grand Hotel to open with Epic Universe on May 22nd. This hotel will have its own entrance to the park — no walking path needed!

Stay tuned to AllEars for more on Universal’s expansion.
