NEWS: 30 CANCELATIONS and 200 DELAYS Hit Orlando International Airport

Are you traveling to Disney World soon?

Where are you headed next?

If you’re planning on flying to Disney World, the Orlando International Airport (MCO) might be the best airport to fly into. It’s under an hour away from the parks and offers lots of airlines, so you can get there from almost anywhere. However, if you are planning on flying to Disney World, we need to remind you to always check your flight’s status; you never know when a flight may be delayed or canceled. Today, January 5th is one of those days that travelers really need to keep track of their flight’s status!

As winter storms hit across the United States, tons of flights are getting delayed and canceled. According to CNN, “…a powerful weather system [is] expected to bring a potent mix of snow, ice, and blizzard conditions, accompanied by winds gusting up to 50 mph.” Areas within the Central Plains, Missouri, and the mid-Atlantic will continue to experience this winter storm.

These winter storms may be having adverse effects on flights coming into and leaving MCO, as flight delays have hit nearly 200 flights, and cancelations have occurred for nearly 30 flights.

The number of delays and cancelations at MCO has continued to climb throughout the day. Earlier in the morning, we saw 83 delays and 16 cancelations, but soon, the number of delays was up to 144, and now it’s close to 200 delays. While the weather in Florida is cooler, it is likely the winter storms affecting many other areas of the country that have impacted these flight changes.

Even though the weather in Florida may be great, realizing that the weather at your destination can influence your flight is important. That’s why, even if it’s beautiful in Orlando, it’s still important to monitor your flight’s status. Downloading the airline’s app or checking updates online are good ways to ensure you know if your flight will be leaving late or not at all.

Don’t forget to check your flight status frequently!

If you’re flying in the upcoming days, be sure to keep an eye on your flight’s status for updates. Hopefully, everything goes as planned for you as you head to Disney World!
