On July 24th, 2024, Disney Genie+ service became Lightning Lane Multi Pass, while Individual Lightning Lane is now Lightning Lane Single Pass.

You can utilize Lightning Lanes to maximize your time on your Disney vacation. We’ve been testing out the system since the beginning and we have 5 trends we have seen that you don’t want to fall for!
Making the Wrong Reservations
With this new system, you can purchase Lightning Lanes BEFORE your Disney World visit (seven days in advance for Disney hotel guests and three days for everyone else), and you can make your selections in advance, too! While this is great, if you don’t strategize it correctly, you could make mistakes!

One of these mistakes is choosing the wrong rides to use on Lightning Lane. To make the Multi Pass worth your money, you’ll want to use your 3 reservations on rides that typically are popular like Slinky Dog Dash or Frozen Ever After.

Rides like Journey into Imagination or Bug’s Life often have relatively short waits so grabbing a reservation for them won’t save you as much time as those bigger ticket rides.
Not Strategizing Correctly
When making those reservations, you will also want to avoid not strategizing the time your first Lightning Lane will be. With the new system, as soon as you use your first reservation, you can book another one. This means it’s important to look not only for the popular rides but also those rides for early times.

This strategy will allow you to get more rides in on your park day. The earlier times and the more rides you complete, the more reservations you can make!
Not Refreshing
While you’re in the park and are looking to make your next reservation, don’t just look once. Reservations can open up for different rides so if there is one you want to grab, but aren’t seeing it, don’t give up!

You can pull down on the screen to refresh to bring up the latest openings. You can also make a reservation for something else and look to change it when you find the one you want to pop up!
Buying an Unnecessary Lightning Lane
While you might be tempted to buy Lightning Lane Multi Pass for every park, you might not need to. We have found that the value of buying them for Disney’s Animal Kingdom and EPCOT just isn’t there.

That’s because there aren’t as many big attractions as there are in Magic Kingdom or Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Many of these rides also have smaller wait times like Living with the Land, Dinosaur, and more.
