A Disney service that some of us love (and some of us love to hate!) is getting a NEW NAME!
That’s right! Disney just announced that Genie+ will be getting a new name on July 24th — and the way the service works is changing in Disney World! Let’s get into it!
In case you didn’t know, Disney Genie+ is a service you buy through the Disney World or Disneyland app. You can use it to book a window to use the Lightning Lane (and wait in much shorter lines) for certain attractions to get to do more during your day in the parks. There’s another element to the program — Individual Lighting Lanes — where you pay a separate price to ride a single ride without the long wait (Individual Lightning Lanes are available for the most popular rides in the parks).
But starting July 24th, Genie+ will become Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and Individual Lighting Lanes will be called Lightning Lane Single Pass. Disney said the name change is to help make things more simple and clear. But that’s not all — Disney is introducing a way to book 3 rides in advance of your park visit through Lightning Lane Multi Pass!
If you’re staying in a Disney World Resort (or another select hotel), you’ll be able to make those selections up to 7 days in advance, for the length of your stay. If you’re not staying in a Disney World resort, you can make your selections up to 3 days in advance.
So many AllEars.net readers have been asking for this change. Disney’s “skip the line” program before Genie+ — called FastPass+ — allowed Disney fans to plan ahead with similar advance selections, and it’s something our readers have consistently said they missed about Genie+.
Now it’s important to note that while the name changes are taking effect in Disney World and Disneyland, the advance selections are only coming to Disney World– at least for now.
