The Christmas Eve Crowds in Disney World Are NOT What We Expected

Disney World is pretty magical as it is, but there’s something special about being at the parks during the holiday season.

Okay, we can think of something at Disney World during the holiday season that actually isn’t so magical — the CROWDS! Now that Christmas Eve has rolled around, how bad are the crowds and wait times at Disney World? We’re glad you asked!

Merry Christmas Eve from Disney World! We’re taking in all the sights and sounds of the parks on this festive day so you know what to expect if you’ll be heading to the parks soon. We weren’t the only ones who wanted to spend the day in Magic Kingdom based on our experience parking at the Transportation and Ticket Center.

Waiting to park

It took us about 16 minutes to park, and then another three minutes to get through security at the TTC.

From there, we hopped in line for the Monorail which only took about five minutes.

Once we arrived at Magic Kingdom, we noticed crowds gathered at the entrance waiting to get in, but overall nothing seemed too chaotic just yet. Perhaps the early bird has caught the worm on Christmas Eve at Magic Kingdom!

Things started to get a little backed up on Main Street, U.S.A. as lots of folks were stopped to take photos in front of the tree and castle. Not only that, but we spoke to a Cast Member stationed just outside of Main Street Bakery — the park’s Starbucks location — and they said the wait was around 30 to 40 minutes for coffee!

We took a look at wait times and noticed that things were not too bad overall either. TRON Lightcycle / Run was temporarily closed when we checked, but Seven Dwarfs Mine Train only had a 45 minute wait!

Over in Frontierland, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was set up for all sorts of lines…but it didn’t need that quite yet!

Not too bad!

The same was true over at the Haunted Mansion, which only had a posted 30-minute wait when our reporter took this photo.

Don’t forget that if you’re at Disney World on a busy day, you can always take advantage of Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Single Pass, and even Premier Pass. Today, Lightning Lane Multi Pass is priced at $39 for Magic Kingdom — one of the highest prices we’ve seen. Premier Pass is $449 for Magic Kingdom today.
