REVIEW: We Ate and Drank (Well, Mostly Drank) Our Way Around EPCOT’s Mexico Pavilion

When you visit EPCOT and head to World Showcase, which way do you turn?

Mexico Pavilion

Well, we know a lot of folks are going to turn left, because, let’s face it, Mexico is where the good drinks and food ARE AT. We’re big fans of both La Cava del Tequila and Choza de Margarita there in Mexico, and we recently revisited both for a few drinks and a snack. So here’s how it went.

So we turned left when we reached World Showcase and stopped by La Cava del Tequila first. This bar could be one of our absolute favorites in Disney World because the drinks are always top-notch. We ordered The Lily, created by supermodel Lily Aldridge. It’s made with Casa Dragones blanco tequila, cranberry-lime juice, housemade rose petal, and shimmering violet essence, with a rose-hibiscus salt rim for $33.

The Lily

Yes, this drink is gorgeous, but it’s also quite tasty. It’s so light, thanks to the rose flavor, but it also is sweet. The floral flavor isn’t overpowering plus there’s also a slightly smoky flavor. We also could barely taste the tequila. You also just have to experience the presentation of this drink. Yes, it’s pricey, but it’s currently one of our favorite drinks.

We also ordered La Cava del Tequila’s version of 1800 Reposado tequila, which the bartender recommended to us. When in doubt, ALWAYS ask your bartender for suggestions and tell him what you usually like. Everything about this tequila was AAA. Also, pro tip: we did the research and chose NOT to get a tequila flight because you actually get MORE tequila if you just order the single shot. This is also a great option if you don’t want a sweet margarita-like drink.

Next up, we visited Choza de Margarita, which has…well…margaritas but some food, too! The drink to get here is the Fiesta Margarita, which is a classic frozen margarita, featuring a combination of strawberry, classic lime, and mango loco for $15. It’s super sweet, but all the flavors balance out well. It’s fruity, with just a hint of tart. We will say that this is a pre-mixed drink so it’s not comparable to the more quality drinks you’ll get at La Cava del Tequila.

We also got some food, though. We ordered the Empanada de Barbacoa, which are Empanadas filled with Barbacoa Beef, topped with Chipotle Sauce, Crema Mexicana, and Queso Fresco and served with a side of Corn Esquites for $13.50. There’s a lot of flavorful, juicy meat inside the empanadas that’s seasoned well. The outside is crunchy, but still a little oily (in a good way), and we love the corn esquites on the side. This could honestly be one of our favorite quick-service eats in Disney World.

So definitely turn left when you get to EPCOT’s World Showcase and grab some showcase-worthy drinks and eats when you get a chance.
