Will the Disney Springs Drone Show Ever Return to Disney World?

During the summer of 2024, Disney Springs was home to a nighttime show built around drones that proved immensely popular… then it disappeared.

Disney Dreams that Soar lit up the night sky around Disney Springs starting in May of 2024, using an army of hundreds of drones to create dazzling images of iconic Disney characters. While the show was always just for the summer, many thought that its popularity would lead to a return in 2025. However, that wasn’t the case. But a new development may hint at a future return…

What was Disney Dreams that Soar?

Disney Dreams that Soar was a drone show that ran during the summer of 2024 at Disney Springs. The show was sponsored by AT&T and had 800 drones — 500 more than Disney’s previous attempt at a drone show show, a holiday offering from eight years prior.

This show was truly spectacular and featured stories from popular Disney movies like Up, Star Wars, Peter Pan, and Guardians of the Galaxy. The end of the show even had a cameo from popular Disney Parks characters like Figment and Orange Bird.

The show was about 10 minutes long and ran twice a night — at 9 PM and again at 10:45 PM. The show opened on May 24th, 2024, and ran until September 2nd, 2024.

As we mentioned, this show was super popular and crowds would flock to Disney Springs each night. On weekends it could be challenging to find a parking spot, and oftentimes we would find ourselves on floor five of the Orange or Lime Parking Garages.

Will Disney Dreams that Soar Return?

The show was meant to run for a limited time to drive people to want to visit Disney Springs because the majority of people would then shop or grab a bite to eat both before or after the show. Its success led many to think it may return for 2025.

Disney has been using drone technology more and more as some Disney Parks overseas have their own drone shows or will soon have their own shows.

We’re not sure where the 800 drones that were part of Disney Dreams that Soar are currently, but we have our fingers crossed that they are still near Disney World and are being programmed for another show. After all, Disney could do this for a lot of seasons and drive attendance to Disney Springs as people will want to return to see the new shows. We can’t lie, we returned multiple times to see Disney Dreams that Soar because it was just that good. Who wouldn’t want to see a 354-foot Dumbo and a 328-foot Big Ben in the sky?

But all things were quiet on the drone front in the U.S. Disney Parks until the fall of 2005. In October, Disney began several nights of drone test in Santa Clarita, California, where Disney and ABC Studios own two back lots on the Golden Oak Ranch. Videos shared on social media show some VERY impressive drone formations, depicting scenes from Peter Pan, Moana, The Little Mermaid, and Fantasia.

Could this testing indicate the return of a drone show to Disney Springs or another Disney Park? Only time will tell. As always, keep following along with AllEars so you never miss out on the latest Disney news!

  1. It was OK. Disney Dreams that soar was nowhere near as good as Disneyland Paris Electrical Sky Parade. That was AMAZING!
