If you went to sleep early last night, you’re likely waking up to LOADS of Disney announcements about the parks, cruises, and more.

Disney’s Parks and Experience panel, titled “Horizons,” gave us some HUGE reveals last night about new rides and experiences coming to Disney World, Disneyland, the international parks, and Disney Cruise Line. We also learned a little more about the Disney Treasure, one of Disney’s new ships, as well as its Moana show. Disney also dropped new concept art for that show.
Disney previously dropped a few pieces of concept artwork for the show, titled “Disney The Tale of Moana.” The show will feature set designs inspired by the Pacific Islands and its culture and “will immerse audiences in a transformational adventure across land and sea.”

This is the first stage adaptation EVER of Moana’s story and will begin with the spirit of Gramma Tala introducing Moana and narrating the show. It will be a new retelling of Moana’s adventure in the first Moana movie about how she goes on a journey across the ocean to restore the heart of Te Fiti.

Jeff Conover, Disney Live Entertainment creative director of puppetry and articulation, is teaming up with master puppet designer Michael Kurry to make some impressive puppets for the show, including a 15-foot fiery Te Kā puppet that will shed its skin to become Te Fiti when Moana restores her heart. We now have new concept art showing us that fiery puppet.

The Disney Treasure will set sail for its maiden voyage in December 2024 with itineraries featuring a series of seven-night sailings to the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Port Canaveral, Florida. The new Moana show will premiere with the ship’s first sailing, so if you want to see it, you might want to go ahead and book that cruise now.
