EVERYTHING is changing in Disney World, and we’re not even referring to all the changes happening over in Magic Kingdom with the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the reimagining of Country Bear Jamboree, and the upcoming expansion. We’re also not talking about the Test Track reimagining that’s happening right now.

We’re not even referring to the big changes coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Nope, the biggest new change in Disney World is with Genie+ and the Individual Lightning Lane option, which will be getting replaced on July 24th with Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. However, you can now get details about these changes at your Disney World hotel.
That’s right, Genie+ is going away and will become something new. Lightning Lane Multi Pass will even work differently by allowing you to purchase the skip-the-line service and Lightning Lane Single Pass (the pay-per-ride version for popular attractions) in advance of your Disney World trip: seven days early if you’re staying at a Disney World hotel and three days for everyone else.

Rides will be separated into two tiers, so you’ll be able to make one selection from the top tier and two from the bottom (or three from the bottom) when planning ahead. Now, we get it — this is going to be very confusing, especially at first. However, if you need more information, you can get a pamphlet explaining it all at your Disney World hotel. We recently picked up a pamphlet at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. The front side of the pamphlet explains the new system.

You’ll find information on how to use Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass on the back of the pamphlet. Note that we did have to ask a Cast Member for the pamphlet, but it’s likely that these will be readily available after the new system goes into place.
