Riding the rides is one of the BEST parts of visiting Disney World.

Sometimes, though, there are rides that you want to avoid. Whether that’s because of certain scenarios or because the ride is seemingly always a bad choice, some of them just put up some major red flags from time to time. Let’s talk about it!
Here are 6 of our biggest red flags when it comes to Disney World rides. In other words, if a ride has any of these qualities, we’re skipping it.
If the Lightning Lane is longer than the Standby Line.
This will happen from time to time, and it’s fixed pretty quickly by the Cast Members who will prioritize the Lighting Lane — the line for riders who had a reservation for a certain time to ride through Disney’s paid “skip the line” service, Genie+ (and if you need all the scoop on Genie+, start right here).

This situation is usually caused by some sort of delay on the inside that prevents a Cast Member from using the typical ratio that keeps both lines flowing smoothly. And it’s a red flag for us because that standby line is about to stack up while the Cast Members prioritize clearing out the queue of folks who paid extra.
If a ride keeps closing.
You can check wait times and whether or not a ride is operating by checking out the rides in the Disney World app.

If you notice that a specific ride as closed and re-opened repeatedly throughout the day, it’s probably a good idea to steer clear of that ride. There’s a good chance it’ll close again. There are certain situations that aren’t completely resolved until the maintenance Cast Members fix it during a long closure or during overnight work.
If you see lots and lots of children on a ride.
Well, this isn’t really a red flag for anything but germs. If you don’t want cooties from where a toddler has sneezed on, licked, and gnawed on a safety bar, just make sure to have some Lysol wipes on deck.

And lots and lots of hand sanitizer.
If you see only ADULTS on a ride.
If you see no children at all on a ride, that probably means it’s pretty scary for them.

That means it might be pretty thrilling for you, too. So if you don’t like high speeds, turns, or big drops, then pay attention to how many kiddos you see in line!
If the ride is known to hand out barf bags.
If a theme park ride is infamous for its tendency to have a seemingly endless supply of barf bags on deck, that SHOULD be a red flag for anyone.
