Disney Reveals NEW Look at 100th Anniversary Walt and Mickey Statue

So MUCH is happening in Disney Parks around the world.

In Disney World, work is underway for TWO new attractions, including a re-theme of Splash Mountain and a Moana attraction. In Disneyland, ToonTown just got a huge update, and a new Tiana-themed restaurant is on the way. A Frozen land is coming to THREE international parks, including Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, which is also getting a new special statue.

Disney announced this new statue in 2022, and it will be added to Hong Kong Disneyland to celebrate the Walt Disney Company’s 100th Anniversary. The statue will feature Walt and Mickey sitting on a park bench. At the time, we saw concept art of what it will look like.

Now, Disney just released a new video with more details about the statue, as well as a first look at it. The statue’s location was inspired by Disneyland’s origin story, which goes like this: Walt used to take his daughters to Griffith Park to ride the Merry-Go-Round there. He started dreaming of a theme park where both adults and children could enjoy together, and that’s how the idea of Disneyland came to be. So you’ll find the statue facing Cinderella Carousel in Hong Kong Disneyland.

The video also shows some behind-the-scenes footage of sculptors working on the new statue. Gotta’ get Walt’s nose just right.

The video also explains statue’s name came to be. It’s called Dream Makers and is described as the “perfect encapsulation Walt and Mickey brought so many dreams to life.” It also displays a plaque that reveals the statue will be officially dedicated in Hong Kong Disneyland on October 16th, 2023.
