We know. It’s summer, it’s HOT, and every time you step foot outside your Disney World hotel room, you immediately start sweating. But there are a few perks to visiting Disney World during the summer, like the Flavors of Florida event happening now at Disney Springs!

In addition to all the new and exciting menu offerings available during Flavors of Florida, there are also some special culinary demonstrations happening now through August. We were lucky enough to visit the special demonstration with Master Sommelier George Miliotes on July 7th, so let’s take a look at what this experience is like!
What Is Flavors of Florida?
For those who might not be familiar with it, Flavors of Florida is a special festival hosted at Disney Springs during the summer. During this event, many of the restaurants throughout the dining and shopping district feature limited-time dishes inspired by the Flavors of Florida, which you can purchase.
The Festival runs from July 1st through August 13th, 2023.

What Are These Demonstrations?
NEW to Flavors of Florida this year, Disney is also hosting special culinary demonstrations with some of the chefs behind your FAVORITE restaurants. We feel like these are sort of a hidden feature of the Flavors of Florida event that you might not even realize are taking place!
Throughout the summer, you’ll find these demonstrations at Waterview Park. The best part is — they’re completely free! BUT space is limited so you’ll want to register for the events early.

There are upcoming demonstrations scheduled with Chef James Petrakis from The Polite Pig, Chef Art Smith from Homecomin’, Steve Lewis from Gideon’s Bakehouse, and Chef Georg Paulussen, Chef Jennifer Ladisky, and Chef Gary Miles from the Disney Springs Culinary team.
You can visit the Disney Springs website for information on how to register.
What Are They Like?
So what are these like? Well, we actually got to attend the first demonstration which was with Master Sommelier George Miliotes from Wine Bar George. During the demonstration, George Miliotes and the Wine Bar George team taught us how to make Dicuru Burrata, the exclusive new Flavors of Florida menu item available at Wine Bar George.
This dish is made of Dicuru burrata paired with tomatoes from The Villages Grown, Belle Glade corn, and Olde Hearth sourdough bread featuring ingredients sourced from Florida.

Throughout the demonstration, we were taught some handy tips to help us recreate this delicious dish at home. The dish features ingredients sourced right from Florida!

The best part? We got a sample to try for ourselves!

The ingredients are sourced from Florida farms. The tomatoes come from The Villages, and they also use Belle Glade corn and Olde Hearth sourdough bread.
The burrata cheese gave a nice creamy offering to the bite, while the charred corn really popped with flavor. We learned during the demonstration that the charring is important to the process for this dish to really make those flavors come to life.

The combination of the tomatoes, charred sweet corn, and burrata cheese on top of the sourdough bread made this dish really flavorful. If you didn’t have a chance to attend or are bummed that you missed watching this dish being made, you can try it for yourselves at Wine Bar George during the Flavors of Florida event.
There are still a few more demonstrations left for the summer at Disney Springs held on Fridays. To learn more about the remaining events and register, visit the Disney Springs website.

In the meantime, we’re constantly on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
