Disney World’s new Toy Story-themed restaurant opens soon!
Ahead of that opening, we got to attend a media preview for Roundup Rodeo BBQ to see what all the fuss was about. We got to see INSIDE the restaurant (and it is very well-themed), as well as try out some of the food. But there are some OTHER details you also need to know about this new dining spot.
Do you remember that urban myth that was spreading around about “Andy’s coming” at Disney World? Basically, folks were going around saying that if you yelled “Andy’s Coming” at any Toy Story characters in Disney World, they would have to fall to the ground and not move (because, ‘ya know, they can’t let Andy, a human, see them being all alive and stuff).
This myth started after a Cast Member staged something similar in a photo, but it never actually happened in Disney Parks…until now. That’s right “Andy’s coming” is actually going to be used at Roundup Rodeo BBQ. But here’s the thing: the GUESTS are the toys in this scenario. So if you’re eating at this new restaurant, you’ll hear someone say “Andy’s coming!” over the speaker, and then you’ll have to freeze in place!

So you’ll want to be sure to pay attention so you can react accordingly. This is just one of the fun details we heard on the speakers while we were enjoying Roundup Rodeo BBQ. So keep in mind that this meal is a little interactive.
Interactive elements like that, as well as the restaurant’s atmosphere, really do make you feel like a toy hanging out in Andy’s backyard, maybe more than anywhere else in Toy Story Land. It’s a nice addition to the world here, and we expect the restaurant itself will be a big hit with families visiting Disney World.
Advance dining reservations are now available for Roundup Rodeo BBQ, but we expect them to go fast, so be sure to try and grab those as soon as you can, which would be 60 days before the first day of your Disney World vacation.
