Splash Mountain Unexpectedly Closed in Disney World

Not everything goes to plan at Disney World.

The holidays are here!

You spend months planning dining reservations, park pass reservations, deciding if Genie+ is something you want to do, and studying up on travel tips. But what happens when one of the most popular rides in Disney World is unexpectedly closed? Well, that’s what happened today in Magic Kingdom and it happens more than you may think.

We were walking around the park when we noticed that there were Cast Members standing in front of the entrance to Splash Mountain. We spoke to one of them that said the ride has been down all morning for technical difficulties and they are not sure when it will reopen.

Disney World rides are no stranger to technical difficulties — does anyone remember the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster saga. The ride was closed for several days in a row.

Splash Mountain is set to get a Princess and the Frog-themed makeover where it will become Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! The ride is set to open in 2024 and Disney has yet to announce a closure date for Splash Mountain.
