Space Mountain Is CLOSED for 2nd Day in a Row at Disney World

Space Mountain is having a rough time in Disney World right now.

Space Mountain is CLOSED

It is not the first time a Disney World ride has had a hard week — anyone remember the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster saga? Well, Space Mountain was closed on October 30th and it looks like there are technical issues today as well.

On October 30th, we opened the My Disney Experience app to see a pop-up message that Space Mountain was closed. After talking to a Cast Member, we learned that it had been closed all day and they were unsure if it would reopen that day.

We went to ride the PeopleMover afterwards and saw that the lights were on inside Space Mountain!

Lights on

So we arrived at Magic Kingdom on Halloween to discover that Space Mountain was closed again. After speaking to a Cast Member we learned that the coaster reopened briefly last night, but there have been issues with the ride this morning.

It may not reopen on Halloween according to Cast Members, but we’ll keep an eye on it. However, the cornhole was back out to entertain guests while the ride is down!

Play some cornhole!

On top of all the Space Mountain drama, the PeopleMover is also closed in Magic Kingdom.

Line was cleared

The line was evacuated, but guests in line were given Lightning Lane passes to return and skip-the-line later in the day.

Whew! Magic Kingdom is having a MORNING. If you’re in the parks on Halloween, keep an eye on the wait times in the Disney World app. A wait time for each of these rides will pop up when it reopens!

  1. Wow, may be time for Disney to consider some price hikes to pay for some preventive maintenance on these rides. Seems like this is the new normal anymore. Thank goodness nobody is paying an arm and a leg to get into the parks. At least you can enjoy a cheap hot dog and drink while you wait for the next breakdown, I mean wait for the rides to come back on line.
