Move Over Figment! It’s Time for Another Disney World ICON to Get His Own Movie

We think it’s time to show Sonny Eclipse some love.

Recently a Disney Park icon has been getting a lot of love. From new merchandise to a new meet and greet, and a new movie, Figment fans have been pretty excited lately. Now, we think it might be time to give another Disney park character some love.

As we were scrolling on Twitter this week, we saw a video that has us thinking. Twitter user @KevinTemmer posted an animated video focused on our favorite alien entertainer, Sonny Eclipse.

Temmer wrote, “Okay, Disney. I animated a trailer. Now please make the movie.” The clip shows an animated Sonny Eclipse singing with rolling credits featuring names like Donald Glover, Seth Rogan, Lizzo, Pete Davidson, and Tom Hanks. If you aren’t aware of who Sonny is, you can find the singing animatronic over at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in Magic Kingdom.

This red-headed, lounge singer is a fan favorite in Magic Kingdom and we think it’s past time he got some more of the spotlight! A Sonny Eclipse movie has not been confirmed by Disney at all, but this is something we would want to watch!

While we might be waiting a while or forever for a real Sonny Eclipse movie, a Figment movie is already in the works.

Last month the Figment movie was announced with Seth Rogan attached to produce and Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit attached to write. While Disney hasn’t announced much about the Figment movie right now, you can be sure we will keep you updated.
